At Silverline Travel, we believe that we can all play an active role in helping combat climate change.

This year we are rolling out our environmental policy, which will focus on five key areas.

Drivers & Vehicles

We are introducing new diesel engine Skoda Superbs which meet stringent Euro 3 emission standards. These vehicles will be replaced on a three year cycle and maintained to the manufacturer’s guidelines, ensuring optimum fuel efficiency. We are also training drivers in how to drive more fuel efficiently, resulting in fewer emissions and a smoother journey.

Fuel Used

We aim to source and then trial the use of Biodiesel. In doing so, we will reduce our dependence on petroleum-based products and at the same time reduce the amount of Carbon Monoxide, Carbon Dioxide and exhaust particulates emitted into the atmosphere.

Carbon Off-Setting

We will research and introduce a carbon off-setting scheme. This means customers will be able to reduce or cancel the effect of the carbon emissions produced on their journey with Silverline Travel or even during their flight. At present, the favoured option is to use the income generated from carbon off-setting to invest in sustainable technology developments.

Office Practice

By the end of the year, we hope to have a simple wind turbine attached to the roof of our office in Wingham. This should be sufficient to power our telephone, fax and computer. We will also recycle all paper and plastic waste and produce all stationery and marketing materials on recycled paper.

Vehicle Sharing

We also offer the option of allowing customers to share with others, where space allows. This not only reduces the company's overall emissions, but also allows the customer a generous discount on their journey cost.
